Ayngaran International's forthcoming 'Sarvam' directed by Vishnuvardhan is a stylish romantic – thriller flick starring Arya and Trisha. Vishnu is coming back with his blue-eyed boy Arya after 'Arindhum Ariyamalum' and 'Pattiyal'. Considered as the most stylish film of the time, 'Billa' starring Ajith was a super hit for the director and he is keen to cope up with the abounding expectations.
Adding to the hype is, Arya's latest 'Naan Kadavul' in which he has meticulously worked for three years and came out with an astounding performance. In an interview, he said that Bala was so concerned about his next project and was happy when he came to know it is 'Sarvam'. The on-screen chemistry between Arya and Trisha is said to have evolved beautifully.
The title 'Sarvam' is christened by the makers depicting the fact that in any one's life within a fraction of a second, their whole life could change outright for good or bad. No one has the control over the consequences that happens all of a sudden.
'Sarvam' has some good reasons to be anticipated with the first being Vishnuardhan's script. A Civil engineer (Arya) and a child specialist doctor (Trisha) falls in love and all goes well until they run into a gang leader who's chasing a father and son for unknown reasons. Jam packed with action and thrilling elements, Vishnu has co-written the screenplay with his associate Gokul.
An interesting factor is popular Malayalam actor Indrajith (as the father) and Telugu director JD Chakravarthy (who acted in Ram Gopal Varma's 'Sathya' a decade back) is in the cast for giving a fresh look to the movie. Rohan, a young boy is debuting in the role of the son. Cinematography in action- thriller flicks carries a lot of weightage and the responsibility is shouldered by ace cinematographer Neerva Shah (Dhoom, Pokkiri, Billa) while editing is handled by Srigar Prasath.
Musical score composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja is peppy and lively. The audio recently launched is going good in the charts. Billa's rocking background score gave a rich feel for the movie and Yuvan is said to have recreated the magic once again. Out of the five songs, one of it has been shot completely featuring CGI effects which will enthrall the audience. In present times, stunts are being choreographed so realistic and the same way is undertaken for this film. Art direction by Manu Jagath alias Manoj, who is a long-time associate of Sabu Cyril is one of the major assets. First half of the film has been shot in Chennai while the entire second half has been done in Munnar.
Vishnuvardhan always delves into disparate themes with films like 'Arindhum Ariyamalum', 'Pattiyal' and 'Billa' to his credit. 'Sarvam' made by a dedicated and talented cast & crew is a flick to watch out for which will hit the screens this month. |
Since' Shock', Tamil cinema didn't see a thriller or horror film so far and the genre was considered as not suitable for Tamil audiences. But, in a daring attempt, the latest upcoming flick 'Yaavarum Nalam' starring Madhavan and Neetu Chandra is a thriller set to chill the spines on March 6th.![](http://image1.indiaglitz.com/tamil/previews/yavarum200209_1.jpg)
Presented by Big Pictures, National award winning director Vikram Kumar has directed this bilingual film (Titled as '13B' in Hindi) and Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy composed the musical score in Tamil after 'Aalavandhan'. Cinematography plays a major part when it comes to films of this kind and the responsibility has been entrusted to talented cinematographer P.C. Sreeram.
Unlike the usual horror flicks, 'Yaavarum Nalam' is based on real life incidents which will be believable and let us relate to the characters on screen. For people who think the scary element will be a ghost haunting the family or a serial killer, they are in for a surprise cause the story revolves around the paranormal activities initiated by a …. TV!
The modern technology that came into our lives as a source to gain knowledge and pass time slowly became an addiction, an outlet for burning emotional trauma and a companion when solace is not found in real humans. The real purpose of a television changed with time and now the 'Idiot box' controls us more than we do it – based on this theme the film has been made.
The story begins with Manohar (Madhavan), a civil engineer who moves to a new apartment 13B situated in the 13th floor, along with his wife Priya (Neetu Chandra) to begin a happy life. The couple eagerly looks forward to having a kid of their own and life goes as simple as ever. Priya and her neighbors get addicted to a new soap 'Sab Khairiyat?' (Name yet to be known for Tamil version) and start spending their whole day stuck to the television set. In a spooky twist, the TV realizes it got an upper hand over its viewers and whatever gets relayed in the serial become real life incidents to the family. The profound thinker and practical guy, Manohar finds possible ways to get out of this grave situation they have got into and what happens following the consequences is narrated leading to a spooky and spine chilling end.
The makers have taken a different route this time to thrill the audience. If what they have said is true, the film won't have shrill screams, blood curling moans or gory faces to scare. Instead, it will be filled with silent moments all along raising the anticipation level to a great extent. The movie was shot simultaneously to suit the nativity with an entirely different cast for Tamil and Hindi, excluding Madhavan and Neetu Chandra. Unknown to us, the makers have made the script ready for this film almost three years ago and have done their homework to come out with a neat package in the end. For the film goers, 'Yaavarum Nalam' will sure be a welcome relief from the clichéd commercial entertainers and Madhavan, who always tries to be innovative in cinema has done it yet again. Buckle up your seat belts and get ready for a thrilling ride in a few weeks time. |
| ![](http://image1.indiaglitz.com/common/none.gif) | ![](http://image1.indiaglitz.com/tamil/reviews/tn210209_2.jpg) Remaking films from Bollywood or Tollywood involves potential risk in Kollywood. Director Lakshmikanthan has tried his hand at redoing a recent Hindi blockbuster 'Taxi No 9211', which is racy and riveting. All credits should go to the director for not trying anything farfetched in the Tamil version, managing to retain the flavor of the original.
Produced by GV Films, the movie revolves around two main characters - a taxi driver and a rich young man played by Pasupathy and Ajmal respectively. All credit to Lakshmikanthan for his apt characterization. They live the character coming out with a brisk performance. Unlike recent run-of-the-mill stuff, the movie has a good storyline to boast of with catchy dialogues sure to evoke applause in theatres.
The aspirations of the poor and the rich, their outlook on life have been captured well. In a nutshell, it is about two different persons belonging to different strata of the society. They meet in a ride and a chain of reaction begins.
Pasupathy plays Mani, a hot -tempered cab driver. He leads a contended life with his wife Subbulakshmi (Simran), who thinks that her husband is an insurance agent. Mani comes across Gautham (Ajmal), a rich spoilt son of a businessman. Gautham has a peculiar problem. He comes into contact with Mani and also comes to know that he would be losing several crore of his father's property to a trustee unless he produces his father's will. ![](http://image1.indiaglitz.com/tamil/reviews/tn210209_1.jpg) An accident leaves Mani and Gautham part ways from the taxi leaving the locker key in Mani's cab. He gets arrested. Eventually, Gautham informs Subbulakshmi that her husband is behind bars and that he is not an insurance agent but a cab driver. Ruckus breaks in their house. What happens next forms the climax. Pasupathy plays the role of a cab driver with finesse. His rough looks and cool body language evokes applause. He has done justice to the role done by talented actor Nana Patekar in Hindi. It's not an exaggeration if we could term him as our own Nana for Tamil filmdom. Ajmal has left his bad boy image in 'Anjathae' and comes out with a new demeanor this time. He has brought out emotions well on screen. At many places, his character reminds one of a role played by Madhavan in 'Anbae Sivam'. He is cool, suave and trendy. His emotional turmoil has been brought out well. Simran hogs limelight with her decent portrayal. As a devout housewife, she fits the bill well. Meenakshi fulfills the oomph factor. Though she has no major bearing on the story, she plays her part well. Vijay Anthony's musical score is hip-hop and trendy captured well on screen. Lakshmikanthan deserves a pat for choosing a right script for remake in Tamil making suitable changes that would find favor with the Tamil crowd. All said, the very fact that it is a remake lingers on our mind ever since the word go. But for others, it is a movie sans any bumpy ride. |
